Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program

|
Just as most of us have a family doctor, your CSA share means you now have your own personal farmer. How many people get to say that?
|
What is a CSA and how does it work?

Most “fresh” produce travels an average 1,500 miles to our grocery stores and tables, eating up non-renewable resources like plastics and fuel for packaging and transit, creating literally tons of pollution. This same produce takes days to travel cross-country and cross-continents, only to lose flavor and nutrients to the time it takes to reach our tables.
Clinton Falls Farm is able to provide many of the same varieties of produce with better flavor and higher nutrition due to shortened harvest-to-delivery time, and shorter distances traveled. Bying your produce direct from Clinton Falls Farm helps improve our environment, and helps ensure the success of a local farm.
You also support the farm by buying a share of the current year’s harvest. You pay for your share in advance, providing capital for operating expenses like seeds, greenhouse supplies, etc. In exchange, when the growing season begins each spring, you share in the risks and benefits of that season’s harvest. As successful crops are harvested, you begin receiving your shares either by picking them up at the farm, or from a pick-up location in the Twin Cities.
CSA members often find their participation to be educational, and feel more connected to their food and the land. By eating seasonally, you begin to understand how weather affects the supply of fresh food, and you gain an appreciation for the superior flavor of organically grown local produce.
Through CSA, you have a real, hands-on connection to your food!

CSA Share Season Schedule
|
Shares are distributed every week for 18 weeks.
The distribution of your CSA share generally begins in mid June and lasts for 18 weeks, ending in mid October. The exact start and end dates are dictated by the current season's weather and growing conditions. Your exact start and end dates will be communicated to you in May. |
What's In a CSA Share?

Your Farm share is a bountiful supply of organically grown produce and a bouquet of cut flowers, and will usually include 6-12 of our freshest in season items. Of course, we will always try to give you more items, as available, including interesting varieties that perhaps you’ve not had a chance to try before. You can expect the best seasonal vegetables, like spring greens and cabbage, summer melons and heirloom tomatoes, and fall root vegetables and winter squash. We will also provide the basics like herbs, potatoes, carrots, and lettuce, as soon as they are available. We include varietal and nutritional information, recipes and a newsletter to keep you informed of what is happening on the farm. Additionally, CSA members have access to the Clinton Falls Farm group on Facebook! Some of our members split a full share with a friend, neighbor or family member. This is also a great way to divide the varieties based on individual tastes. All CSA members also have an open invitation to visit the farm and enjoy our free u-pick gardens, as available.

What are your farming practices?
Our farmland is purposefully managed to reflect our dedication to Sustainable Farming, and is deeply rooted in our commitment to ensuring a healthy natural environment, a healthy and vibrant community, and a successful small family farm.
We keep a delicate mix of productive farmland in the midst of forest, with a wooded buffer along the river that reduces erosion and runoff. We do not use synthetic chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and we practice efficient use of water, energy, and farm resources, to ensure biodiversity as well as the economic viability of our farm. |
